Mom "lost in the mail"?

Wow, this story just begs all kinds of questions. According to ctv.ca, a family had to postpone a funeral because their mother's ashes were lost in the mail. Apparently they'd been sent via Xpresspost.

Hmmmm. I have expressed the wish to be cremated. I think I will update my will to include the cost of a courier! Or a car rental to pick up what's left of me.

Who on earth would mail someone's remains? Is it me or is there something wrong with this picture?

I'm having a tough time finding much sympathy for this family.
