Career Limiting Moves
And before anyone starts calling Harper a dictator, give some serious thought to the Tory Syndrome and ask yourself just how bright a light you must be to 'dis the boss, publicly, in the middle of a media-generated sh*tstorm by jumping onto the media bandwagon.
Jason Kenney wasn't happy & neither was James Moore. They found a talking point "Mr. Emerson is a very talented individual and a great Canadian and will be a great addition to the team" or words to that effect and repeated them until the reporters got bored and tried somewhere else.
So I won't shed a tear for Mr. Turner in his broomcloset or remade washroom. He's an experienced MP; in fact, he was a leadership contender years back and he knows the game. PMSH ran a very disciplined campaign; why on earth would anyone think his government would be different? And if, as he says, Mr. Turner's main goal was to represent his constituents, he will be able to do so freely, unencumbered by excessive committee meetings & parliamentary duties, so his constituents will be well-served.
I'm sure if he keeps his nose clean he'll be out of the dungeons in six months or so. I don't see PMSH as real vindictive, but someone who is making a point. While some may see Turner as a folk hero (puhleeze) to principles, I see someone interested in making a splash in the media suddenly surprised to find that the mud got on him, too.
